Where Do You Start?

Let’s Hit the
National Bookstores,
are you ready?

Extend your promotional reach to independent bookstores across the United States through Touchstone Press & Media’s Retail Focus.

Retail Focus

Despite the rise of self-published titles in the digital market, getting a self-published book into major brick and mortar bookstores continues to be a challenge. Literary content, sales potential, and returnability are just a few of the elements that bookstores will take into account before considering a self-published title.

A strong marketing platform, great PR skills, and a lot of tenacity have landed self-published titles onto store shelves of independent bookstores on a test basis but not every author has the time or contacts to accomplish this task.

Touchstone Press and Media’s Retail Focus helps published authors like you promote your book to independent bookstores across the country through a strategic combination of print ads on two publications well-known to booksellers and a focused pitch to bookstores across the country to encourage these stores to carry a test copy.

Extend your promotional reach to public libraries across the United States through Touchstone Press and Media’s Library Focus.

Even in this digital age of publishing, libraries continue to hold sway with authors who are keen on tapping this potential market. A lot of booklovers still prefer to go to libraries to read or borrow books. However, it has continued to prove difficult for self-published authors to get local libraries to stock up and display self-published titles on their shelves.

With this in mind, Touchstone Press and Media designed and created Library Focus to make it easier for published authors like you reach out to libraries, through a strategic combination of print ads on two publications well-known to librarians and a focused pitch to public libraries across the country.

Booksellers Returnability

The ability to return unsold print books is a standard publishing business practice that has remained since the Great Depression. Since that time, brick-and-mortar booksellers have been able to mitigate their own financial risk by relying on publishers to credit returned books.

Often, booksellers will hesitate to order and stock books when they aren’t “Returnable.” This means if getting your title stocked on bookstore shelves is part of your marketing plan, Booksellers Return Program is an essential element to earning shelf space and/or in-store book signings.

When you purchase Booksellers Return Program:

Your book will be designated as “Returnable” in Ingram’s ipage ordering system for book buyers and libraries. (Ingram is the world’s largest wholesaler and distributor of books.)

Your book will be designated as “Returnable” in Baker & Taylor’s ordering system for libraries. (Baker & Taylor is a leading distributor of books, with 180 years in the business.)

You will not be charged back for royalties earned on the sales to the store if your books are returned.

Note: Your book will be designated on ipage within two to seven weeks. It can then take 30 to 60 days for returnability status to appear within individual retailers’ systems. Confirmation of your title’s listing in ipage is available upon your request.

What assurance can Touchstone Press and Media give that a bookstore will order and stock my book?

Touchstone Press and Media does not have control over whether a bookstore will order and stock your book. Each bookstore, be it commercial and independently owned, manages its own business operations including which title to stock on its shelves.
